The old historic center of Cartagena is surrounded by 11 km of the city wall. Inside is one of the world’s most spectacular UNESCO world heritage sites.
Your guide will explain the historical context and stories of important sites as you walk through the old town.

I emailed Martin shortly before my trip to Colombia and he gave me a couple of different options. I went with the walking tour of the walled city and it was great. Martin is a native of Cartagena and was able to provide the background and history of the many places we saw. We were able to visit the Iglesia de San Pedro Claver, the Inquisition Palace and a quick stop in the gold museum. There were lots of great photo ops and Martin is clearly passionate and knowledgeable about his eye-catching city. In the end, I did not have enough cash on me to pay (I wasn’t sure if Martin preferred dollars or pesos – no preference by the way). Anyway, he was nice enough to drive me to an ATM after the tour and then back to Cafe del Mar so I could get a drink and watch the beautiful sunset from there. I hope to return to Cartagena again and have Martin show me La Popa Monastery and Castillo San Felipe de Barajas. Thanks again, Martin!
