We hired Cartagena tour guides for two days of private touring. Our guide and driver couldn’t be nicer. Day one was to include the fort, monastery, old town, and emerald museum. The fort, old town, and monastery were interesting and fun. However, we were not taken to the emerald museum, but instead were taken to one of the many emerald jewelry stores where we were told it was owned by the guide’s uncle and we’d get a good deal. The sales pitch was somewhat forceful and high pressure to buy. We thought this was our personal guides going off the reservation by taking us here instead of the museum, but we later met a couple the next day who had hired Martin for two days of private touring, who did the same thing to them. So, we never saw the emerald museum and instead got a high pressure sales pitch in a privately owned jewelry store, instead. We did go to Playa Blanca the next day with them and had a nice relaxing day.

“My wife and I took the city tour with Martin at the end of April. Martin was very personable and very informative. Tour hit all the main points around the city. Given the heat in Cartagena the convenience of having a SUV and driver with AC waiting for you after each segment made the tour that much better.
Martin was also well informed about current affairs and standard of living in Columbia which I find just as interesting as the history when we tour other countries”

I had read so many good reviews of Martin Rosales and his company that I was pleased to be able to book a private tour for my husband and me. The car was clean and comfortable, and Martin and his driver, Carlos, were polite and easy to be around. Martin was extremely knowledgeable about Cartagena and its history, and very proud of his country and eager to show it to us. We enjoyed our time with him, and were grateful for the wonderful air conditioning in the car, as it was a very hot day!

“My husband and I traveled to Cartagena for our honeymoon. We wanted to see the city and thought it was best to hirer a private tour guide. After reading the reviews I contacted Martin. He immediately responded to me and we were able to set up two tours over email. We did the Walled City tour which consisted of us being picked up at our hotel and we went to La Popa, Castillo San Felipe de Barajas, Mango Island and Boca Grande. Then we ended the the tour by walking around the walled city and visiting the emerald museum.
Martin was incredibly knowledgable, accommodating, and fun! This is the way to see the city. We were able to cut lines and never wait, you learn all the history and can ask any questions. Martin English is impeccable. He also helped us change our money in for pesos. You can truly see his passion and pride for his city.
We also appreciated that he was flexible. I had to push one tour back because we got our arrival day mixed up. He also customized the beach tour for us by picking us up at 8 and being back back by 3 so we could go shopping.
We want to thank Martin for an unforgettable trip. I left my camera in the car and before I could email him he had returned to our hotel to drop it off. This is the best tour company in the city.”

Martin was wonderful and we learned so much – he brought the city to life for us, and was so patient and capable in answering our every question! I highly recommend doing this – worth the price! We did it our third day, but wish we had done it the first as it was so helpful to have context for the city …
